Manifesting Love #6

This is a new work in progress, The Manifesting Love Club. Four friends. All single. Some looking for love. Some not. Join these ladies as they take their friendship into a new direction, to manifest love.

Last week Heather introduced her idea of affirmations to manifest love. The friends are working on their lists of what they want in a man as Heather serves up dessert. Today we see what’s on Juliette’s list for her perfect man.

This week we’re writing to the prompt ‘save’.

Return to TUESDAY TALES for the rest of the story snippets.

Laughter broke out around the table as images of Corecia’s embrace with a much shorter man came to mind. When the merriment subsided, Heather looked back and forth between Juliette and Tracey. Knowing that Tracey was slightly resistant to the intent of their manifesting club, she thought she’d save her for last. “Juliette, your turn. What qualities did you pick for your dream man?”

Being one of the feistiest members of this band of single women, Juliette had no qualms about sharing her innermost thoughts. Being the shortest one, barely breaking the five foot mark, she brought another round of hilarity with her first announcement. “Before I tell you what I want…let me add…I have no problems if the man I call to me is short.”

Corecia raised her wine glass high in the air. “Girl, have I got a line of rejects I can send your way.”

Juliette lifted her glass in a reply, then morphed into a serious woman that belied her typical bohemian spirit. Lifting her lined tablet, she read through her list in a manner that could have been lifted out of any business boardroom. “He’s definitely got to be an artist. Someone with a creative flair and talent. Someone that will appreciate me for who I am, and will understand the funkiness that fills my life. He’s got to be open to travel and wandering about on the weekends. Willing to take off on a whim. Handsome would be nice, but isn’t a requirement. Long hair a plus…I do so love a man with nice, lush hair falling about his shoulders…tied in a ponytail for fancy occasions…”

She stopped mid-sentence and a wistful expression replaced her previous business like look. “I need to clarify that though…artist and funky…but also someone that likes to work and produce. Not a flake like George.”

Tracey murmured softly across the table. “You found out pretty quick with him, didn’t you?”

“I should have seen it earlier. Guess I was too blinded with love…”

“Or lust,” Corecia broke in.

Juliette nodded her head in agreement. “Most probably lust. He was awesome in the bedroom part…it was just the getting and holding a job part that didn’t agree with him. I knew within three months that he had no intention of working or contributing to the financial side of our marriage. I tried to make it last…but damn, there’s only so much a girl can do by herself.”

“At least you found out before you got too far in,” Heather consoled.

“Yep. We were divorced before we’d even gotten to our first anniversary. Biggest mistake of my life.”

Tracey disagreed. “No, not a mistake. Don’t berate yourself for not seeing it earlier. Be proud of yourself for realizing it and making a decision to change your circumstances and move on before you ended up resentful – and broke – with twenty or thirty years of your life gone. A lesson, that’s all it was, just another life lesson.”

A grin replaced the frown as Juliette took Tracey’s words to heart. She added another line on her list. “Hard worker. Artistic, but with an inner drive that channels his creative talents.” She laid her pen down beside her. “That’s it. If he meets all these requirements, I’m pretty flexible on most everything else. Heather? What about you? And yours better be good, seeing as you’ve had extra time to work on yours.”

  1. I am enjoying reading what each one wants. Juliette’s guy sounds enticing, hard working artistic type with long hair. Looking forward to more.
