Manifesting Love Club #11

This is a new work in progress, The Manifesting Love Club. Four friends. All single. Some looking for love. Some not. Join these ladies as they take their friendship into a new direction, to manifest love.

Earlier, Heather introduced her idea of affirmations to manifest love. The friends are working on their lists of what they want in a dream man. Heather shares her list of affirmations with her friends. And her mind starts to wonder. When will he come? Who will he be?

This week we’re writing to the prompt ‘toes’.

Return to TUESDAY TALES for the rest of the story snippets.

Heather dropped her change in the machine. When she couldn’t decide on which high calorie, high sodium, nutrition free snack she wanted, she realized that she wasn’t in need of a treat, she’d only needed a break from work.

Maybe I should have just meditated for ten minutes.

“I highly recommend 33B. It was a good year.”

The deep voice coming from behind her shoulder startled her for a moment. She looked at 33B to see what in the world Mr. Clown Nose was talking about. “The Reese’s Pieces?”

“Yep, that’s the one.” He held up the bag he was munching from to show her. “Aged to perfection. Ingredients from the finest cocoa plantation. Probably some prime oak barrel or such plays in there somewhere too.”

“Uh…okay. Thanks for the tip.” At which point she deliberately punched ‘4A’ and watched a bag of peanuts drop down to where she could retrieve them. Snatching the cellophane bag out, she turned and made a hasty retreat, shaking her head in disbelief once she was out of them room.

Stopping at Sarah’s desk in the reception area, Heather lowered her voice, and nodded her head towards the break room. “So…who’s the new guy? And I doubt he’s going to get many listings if he runs around in public with that thing stuck on his nose.”

“That’s Brian Nelson. He doesn’t work for Landers Real Estate.”

“Good thing. I was thinking that Mr. Landers had lost it, taking on an agent that’s so unprofessional. He’s so…” Seeing the gentleman in question approaching the desk, Heather broke off and wheeled around towards the door. “Clients call…see you later, Sarah.”

Munching on peanuts all the way back to her office, Heather’s mind quickly switched back to business. Making a path through the piles of swatches stacked around the office, her brain whirled, trying to envision another layout that Mrs. Jamison would approve of.

CNJ_turquoise fabric.jpgA subdued turquoise pattern caught her eye, buried under a sea of various chevron designs. She pulled it out and held up the mottled design, reminiscent of a watercolor print, accented with subtle gold metallic accents. It was elegant, yet understated. Classic and timeless, many schemes could play off it.

Developing a list of possible options, using this fabric as a base, Heather was so intent on the new direction she could take this project that she didn’t hear Laura enter. When she glanced up and saw her assistant standing there, she jumped.

“Sorry. Didn’t want to interrupt you. You were so deep in thought.” Laura held out the phone. “It’s Sarah, from across the hall. It sounds personal.”

Puzzled, Heather took the call. After listening and nodding a bit, she stammered her reply. “Uh…let me think about it…I’ll get back to you.”

Punching ‘end’, she dropped the phone on her desk and started pacing. That clown was Sarah’s brother? And he wanted her number?

Her initial response was an adamant ‘no’. But, why then, did the simple request send a tingle down her body straight to the tips of her toes?
